Man says we’ve all been using travel pillows backwards and it really makes sense

With the world slowly, but not so surely, returning to some sort of normality, many of us will be planning a getaway for a well-deserved break from working at our kitchen tables.

Staycations and quick trips to Europe will be on the cards for many, while others will be packing their bags and jetting off to exotic locations further afield.

The only issue with the latter option is that it also involves a long-haul flight, which brings hour after hour of sitting squished into a confined space and little sleep, leaving you arriving on your ‘relaxing’ holiday feeling like you’ve been on a three-day bender.

If you’ve ever bought a travel pillow in a bid to help you nod off, one man has shared a video to say we’ve all been using it wrong – and it’s racked up a staggering 12 million views as people realised why they always found them to be so uncomfortable.

TikTok user Sidneyraz shared an advice video titled ‘You can actually sleep on a flight’, and claimed that travel pillows should actually go at the front of your neck and clip around the back, rather than the other way round.

He said: “Here’s something I wish I knew before I was in my 30s. Travel pillows go in front,” while putting the padding under his chin and adding: “Mm, I’m so comfy.”

After seeing hundreds of people all wear the pillows the same way at airports and on flights, viewers were left stunned after giving it a go themselves and realising they had been making a huge mistake for years.

One person said: “This is probably why I have always found them to be uncomfortable.”

A second wrote: “Yep, at the back they push your head forward in a weird position, and if you are short and the seat is forward it is worse.”

A third replied: “This makes so much sense why am I so shocked.”

And another added: “What??! No way!! My LIFE HAS BEEN A LIE ALL ALONG.”
